TRI-PONG FOR ALL!

Tri_pong_action
Our infamous friend, Secil Boyd, shared he and his wife Melba's, invention with us.  And as Tri-Pong's most ardent supporter, Cheristy can attest that Tri-Pong has proven to be a great stress release.  We gotta get a tourney going soon!  Check out the rules at Wikipedia.

Threshold Goes Green

Photos_jennys_8_020

Threshold is officially committed to lessening our impact on the environment, individually and collectively as a business. We have all been doing things on our own, but hope that by our efforts to green Threshold, we can make an even bigger step toward reducing our impact on the environment, and hopefully encourage others to do the same......

Here is what we have done so far:

  1. Volunteered with Treepeople, planted 25 trees, 50,000 lbs of CO2 offset by our efforts.
  2. Donated money to Treepeople in lieu of holiday gifts, and purchased holiday cards from Treepeople that were made from 100% recycled paper, and printed with soy based biodegrable ink.
  3. Switched to non disposable coffee cups, plates, glasses, and silverware.
  4. Switched all of our light bulbs to CFL's.
  5. Buying coffee that is organic, fair trade, and shade grown.
  6. Cut our paper use, email documents vs. printing them out, use the projector in meetings instead of paper copies, scan documents for a digital library.
  7. Switched to 100% post consumer reycyled paper, chlorine bleach free.
  8. Switched to rechargeable batteries.
  9. Started recycling program for Threshold, only paper is recycled for our buidling, so we have taken it upon ourselves to recycle all bottles, cans, and paper that comes out of Threshold, and we are committed to recycling our toxic materials (batteries, toner, etc.) in an environmentally responsible way.
  10. Switched to biodegrabale cleaning products and soaps.

Serendipity at work for Dennis and Steve Forbes

Dennis was scheduled to go to an EO Business Development event - where Entrepreneurs unite and basically have an exchange of ideas. As luck would have it, Steve Forbes was the speaker!

Dennis got to meet Steve and moved in quickly to make an impression, bearing in mind that the Forbes article had just been published. Dennis made mention that he was the guy who was featured in Forbes Magazine and was quoted about making Butterfinger a presence on YouTube. Steve smiled and then up and said that he loved Butterfingers, but that he also loved Chunky, Snickers and 'the' Hershey.

Dennis quickly drafted a letter...and a big box of Butterfinger bars was sent to Steve to arrive just days before Halloween. So a bit of what goes around, does come around.

...and Dennis Made the Most of Any Moment!

Dear Mr. Forbes,

It was a pleasure meeting you the other night at the EO event at the Richard Nixon Library. I enjoyed your speech and appreciated you taking the time out to share your thoughts and experiences with us.

As a refresher, at the EO event I asked you about your favorite candy bars (you mentioned Butterfinger, Snickers, Hershey chocolate bar and Chunky). I then shared the news that my company, Threshold Marketing, just launched a social networking campaign for our client, Nestle Butterfinger, and was included in the YouTube cover story in a recent issue of Forbes Magazine.

Knowing that you are a fan of Butterfinger and to celebrate the mention of my small, but growing, business, in your magazine, I want to share this box of Butterfinger candy bars with you. Please don’t try to eat all of them yourself, unless you’re willing to shoot a video of the experience and post it to our YouTube video contest! But rather, put a stash in your desk drawer and share the rest with your staff.

Again, it was a pleasure meeting you. And I hope to meet you again some day soon.

Best wishes,

Dennis Mink

Forbes gives flattering coverage to Threshold via Dennis Mink...

As the Internet alters what we watch and how, YouTube surfs the next wave…….

YouTube is at the forefront of a new video revolution on the Net. The upstart's birth coincided with a magic moment in Internet history, when online video became cheap enough to give away. Broadcast television is over half a century old; cable TV is in its 30s.

Now a new type of video network promises to radically change what we can watch, who can create it and who will profit…………

To jazz up Butterfinger candy bars, Threshold Marketing shot "viral video" of people "making the most of any moment"--goofy folks stuck in traffic and dancing--to bait YouTube fans into making their own videos. The ad folks can veto what they don't like. "The ability to filter out things that might not be flattering was a big concern," says Dennis Mink, a partner at Threshold.

User-generated efforts are catching on elsewhere, too. American Express launched one program on its own Web site to have amateur filmmakers produce 15-second spots tied to its "My Life, My Card" campaign. AmEx got 1,700 entries, which were evaluated by directors M. Night Shyamalan and Martin Scorsese. AmEx's John Hayes says he was amazed by the quality; one miniflick of a wedding at a train station in Italy made him mist up…..

But even YouTube's admirers can see that the company is on a knife edge. "It's very fragile at this moment. I don't want to see the thing get bastardized," says Jordan Bitterman, media director for Digitas ad agency, whose clients include AT&T and Pfizer.

Q: Who's It Gonna Be?

Kubrick_475x385_1Since there's no real news happening, let's at least create some.

Q: Suppose Threshold had in their hands an opportunity to work with one single person who was such an amazing human being in your mind. Not just that, though. You would honestly be so happy just to know people who got to work with that person; you personally, may not even get to. Who would that person be? Click on 'Comments' and let me know.
